Harrington House Bed & Breakfast is located in Winthrop, Massachusetts, just minutes from downtown Boston and Logan International Airport.
Our home is a Queen Anne Victorian built in 1885. Four years later, in 1889, Luther T. & Hattie E. Harrington took up residence in the grand house, turning it into a true home that suited their family for over 80 years!
Mr. Harrington was a self-made man, an avid sailor, and owner of the longest running jewelry stores in Boston - Harrington & Freeman Jewelers. The Harrington family lived in this house until the 1970's. In 2003, we purchased it from its third owner.
Located right on Boston Harbor, the house boasts original hardwood floors and moldings, ornate working cast iron radiators, spectacular views of the Boston skyline, and glorious sunsets. After much renovation in the first few years, and many visitors, we realized the house was too big for just us and we needed to share it with others. Our home is filled with lovely family antiques that were passed down to us from several generations and provide the house with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The house is our residence, and we welcome you to share our lovely home and the surrounding historic Boston area. We are open all year!
As of September 1, 2011, we have three lovely guest rooms for rent on the second floor with a shared full bath, as well as a private sitting and dining room on the first floor for the use of our guests. Our continental breakfast earns rave reviews for our always-fresh, home-baked items, variety of yogurts, fresh fruits, and delicious coffees and teas.
There is off street parking available and several local transportation options. The home is not wheelchair accessible. We are pet friendly and do have a small dog and a cat.
We hope to welcome you to our home soon! Joey & Maggie.
We are open year round, offering three lovely rooms located on the second floor. All have views of the water and are well appointed. There is one large bath at the end of the hall shared by the three rooms.
The dining room and sitting room are located on the first floor and are dedicated to our guests. WiFi is available at no charge, as well as cable TV in the sitting room, and a laptop computer for internet access.
A delicious continental breakfast with fresh baked items is included with your stay. There is 24 hour coffee and tea self-service, a small refrigerator for milk, yogurts and your leftovers; and we serve you fresh baked cookies every afternoon
at 4 pm.

With open ocean to the East, Deer Island to the south, the inner harbor and Belle Isle saltwater marsh to the west, there is plenty to do. Kayak, walk, bike ride, swim, bird watch, fish, explore the harbor islands!
"Winthrop is the epitome of a hidden gem. It provides a slice of small-town life right outside of Boston. A ferry runs May through October from Winthrop to Rowe’s Wharf in Boston and affords a great view of Boston Harbor along the way." Read more in this article by Lisa Mozden in AAA Horizons.
